General Update and Release Info - August 9th 2020
Hello everyone,
We have been working hard on Autonomous Anarchy for the past couple of weeks and would like to share some information on our progress. In this post, we will go over some of the features that will be coming and the release information for the beta demo. Currently we are looking at August 21st as the release date.
General Updates
We have overhauled how the rooms scale up which has allowed us to increase the base speed of your tank so that the game feels more fluid. We have also removed the ability to go back to previous rooms, as this can be frustrating at times when you do it accidentally.
All of the rooms from the previous showcases have been completely remade, and tweaks have been done to their layout to make them easier to navigate and more importantly for them to be more interesting. We have also been working on creating the remaining rooms for the Seaside Scrapyard. These rooms are coming along great but still need some tweaking. We will be showing them off more of them as they get closer to completion.
The speed, damage, and health of all enemies has been changed. We felt like the game would be better off with faster, weaker enemies instead of slow bullet sponges. In addition to these enemy changes, we have also buffed your weapons, mainly in projectile speed, so that hitting enemies is easier. Overall these changes make combat quick, intense, and more fun. Another change we have added is a spawn limit to spawners, so that you can take your time and not have to constantly face huge hordes of enemies.
We have added in a large variety of assets to enhance the scenery and visuals of the game. The first area, the Seaside Scrapyard, now has scrap and sea life fitting the theme of the area.
Difficulty
We have taken a different approach to difficulty than we did in Umbra. Instead of preset difficulty such as easy, medium, and hard, we are allowing you to choose how much health you start out with, in a range between 100 and 1000 in increments of 100. We also have continues which allow you to keep playing if your tank gets destroyed. You can choose the amount of continues that you get as well as earning them through gameplay. If you use a continue, you will start the room again with the maximum health you started the game with. If you are out of continues, you will have to restart the area with base power ups.
Release Timeline
We are working to finalize the room designs as we speak. So far, our goal for this demo version was the first area with 15 levels and a boss. We are planning to release the demo on August 21st. A small patch for balance changes and bug fixes will release the week after on August 28th. As always, stay tuned to our Twitter for progress updates as we continue working on it!
